Path of Exile – Currency and Crafting For New and Old Players
Path of Exile over the years has developed an incredibly devoted player-base and even though it is one of the very few games out in this day and age that doesn't have a dedicated currency system; the players themselves have devised their own. While this is a fascinating system and is great for the players in general, if you're not used to this form of currency it isn't all that easy to get into. To combat this, here is a guide that will not only help you out with understanding currency inside the game, but also the crafting system that will help you gain that necessary currency!
The following list is a general guide to how certain drops correspond to their currency worth. However, in this list there won't be a couple of items, due to the incredible rarity of said item; so much so to such a degree that it isn't even worth mentioning.
Now, onto the currency:
#140 – 160 Scrolls of Wisdom = 1 Chaos Orb
#140 – 160 Portal Scroll = 1 Chaos Orb
#35 – 40 Orb of Transmutation = 1 Chaos Orb
#60 Orbs of Augmentation = 1 Chaos Orb
#16 Orbs of Alteration = 1 Chaos Orb
#13 – 20 Chromatic Orbs = 1 Chaos Orb
#8 Jeweller's Orbs = 1 Chaos Orb
#8 Orbs of Chance = 1 Chaos Orb
#3 – 4 Cartographer's Chisel = 1 Chaos Orb
#2 Orbs of Scouring = 1 Chaos Orb
#2 Orbs of Alchemy = 1 Chaos Orb
#1.5 – 2 Orbs of Fusing = 1 Chaos Orb
#1 Blessed Orb = 1 Chaos Orb
#1 Orb of Regret = 1 Chaos Orb
If you are wondering why everything is equal to a Chaos Orb, it is down to the fact that Chaos Orbs are the main currency in the game once you get down to it. When it comes down to trading with another player for an item that you've had on your mind for a while, providing that you're nearer the end of the game rather than the start, you will be purchasing that item with Chaos Orbs – providing you can afford it!
Before I delve into crafting, be aware that it isn't the most cost-effective way of receiving a brand new item, because it's quite the gamble on why you might end up getting; so at times it's best to just look for a player selling what it is you're looking for so you get it without question.
If you're still looking to make that Path of Exile "dollar", then be sure to save your resources until you come across an item that is above the item level of 80 or more. Below that level threshold will wield less than lucrative results for all involved, and that's not even necessarily on whether the original item is made successfully.
There are a couple of ways to successfully make an item; while the basic way may work all the time, the item you get out of it isn't really worth the effort much of the time. The slightly more advanced version of it however is a lot more reliable and worth the effort and looks something like this:
1.Start with a white item – of a high level
2.Use an Orb of Transmutation
3.Proceed to continue to use Orbs of Alteration until you get the two mods that you are looking for on your new item
4.Use a Regal Orb
5.Not a necessary step, but you can use an Eternal Orb to make an imprint of the item so you don't have to go back to step one if things don't go to plan
6.Use three Exalted Orbs
7.Then, if you feel the need, feel free to use a Divine Orb or Blessed Orb to alter and change the values of your new mods
This is a slightly more complicated way of crafting than the basic way, but the reliability of it all will be the reason your next item will be more than worth selling if you feel the need to – all so you can get those lovely Path of Exile orbs!
